Laser Dermabrasion
Laser treatment of wrinkles is sometimes referred to as laser dermabrasion. This is a provedure where a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser is used to remove areas of skin, layer by layer. The procedure aims to smooth the wrikled or damaged skin by removing the damaged layers. This is a procedure that can be performed on parts of the face or the whole face. Occasionally laser dermabrasion is performed as a part of a set of plastic procedures aiming at renjuvenativ patient's look.
Laser dermabrasion offers a number of advantages over other resurfacing methods such as chemical peel because it is more accurate and there's no bleeding. Additionally, the post-surgery recovery is minimal and the patient doesn't need to - in most cases - to take much time off work. It has to be noted that laser face lift is not for every person because it does depend on individual skin characteristics and in some cases, an alternative skin resurfacing treatment, such as chemical peel is a better idea.
The laser dermabrasion is done by first stripping the outer layers of damaged skin and then, as the new cells form during the healing process, a smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin surface will appear making the area younger and tighter looking.
For deeper resurfacing, the upper levels of the damages skin removal can be carried out but for shallower resurfacing minimal laser dermabrasion is the only necessary level of this procedure. Varied dermabrasions are used for areas that are deeply wrinkled or spotted, usually on older patients.
Lots of men and women can benefit from laser dermabrasion - it does make the face
look much younger and it helps to enhance the patient's appearance and self-confidence,
but it won't completely remove all facial flaws or prevent aging. The ideal patient
for laser dermabrasion will have a fair, healthy, non-oily skin. People with darker
skin - olive, brown or black -- may be at increased risk for pigmentation changes
so they should consult with their physicians before undergoing laser dermabrasion.
Laser dermabrasion is a quick procedure and is relatively painless. In most cases
ther side-effects are rare but make sure to speak to your doctor to find out about
recovery times as well as potential risks associated with laser dermabrasion.
