Under Eye Lift Procedure
If you have bags under the eyes under eyelift may be an option to remove them. Bags under eyes are formed of fatty tissue and fluid and sometimes they may form early on in some people. Sometimes shadows from overhead lighting may cause the appearance of circles or if the skin on the lower eyelid is thin the dark-red or purple inside of the lid may show through.
Sometimes if fluid is retained in the body, the bags under eyes get even bigger and then the ender eyelift may become a necessity. Occasionally medical conditions that cause fluid retention such as heart, thyroid, kidney and liver problems as well as high blood pressure and premenstrual bloating may be a reason for the bags under eyes.
Make sure you identify - or get your physician to help you identify - the reasons for the baggy eye appearance before deciding to go ahead with the under eye lift surgery. When fatty deposits are being removed from beneath the eyes, the incisions are placed just inside the lower eyelid or beneath the eyelash line. When the fat is removed the doctors will close the incision with absorbable sutures or sometimes just leave it to heal naturally.
It is important to remember that under eye lift surgery can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it doesn't necessary mean that your look will be drastically changed and will match your ideal. But you should be expecting a more youthful look/
The under eyelift surgery will take between one to three hours. This depends on whether you're having both upper and lower lids done. You may experience some side effects such as including tightness of the eyelids, bruising and swelling. Occasionally you will get an itching and burning sensation that will last for two or three weeks after the surgery. Very rarely you may get temporary eyesight problems such as double or blurred vision. Sometimes it may also be hard to close your eyes all the way. The good news is that scarring is minimal and you'll be able to read again soon and can go back to work within a week or two.
The most important thing in under eyelift is the initial consultation with the surgeon where the surgeon will ask you about your complete medical history. Make sure you check your own records ahead of time and be prepared to answer all the questions as well as tell your surgeon about your allergies and if you take any medication.
During this consultation your surgeon or a nurse will test your vision and assess your tear production to make sure you're a good candidate. If it's possible you should also provide any relevant information from your ophthalmologist or the record of your most recent eye exam. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, make sure you have them with you. |
